About Us:
Te Moana-a-Toi Roller Skating Club Incorporated was founded by Sarah Jane Johnston and built on the guiding tikanga of Manaakitanga and Whanaungatanga. From the beginning, the club was created to be a true home for its skaters - a place of support, connection, and belonging.
As the club grew, development expanded into Whakatāne, and strong connections were formed with the Rotorua Roller Skating Club.
In 2025, Te Moana-a-Toi and Rotorua Roller Skating Club made the decision to align under a shared structure to streamline administrative processes, use resources efficiently, and reduce pressure on the club’s founding member and Head Coach, Sarah Jane. This collaborative approach strengthened athlete pathways across the Bay of Plenty.
Since then, the club has continued to build on its foundations, achieving many successes - including winning the Most Points Trophy at the New Zealand National Championships in 2025, the first time this award has ever been won by a Bay of Plenty club.
